80 couples wedded in an historic event which happened in Nasarawa state on November 27 2016. New Nyanya is situated in Karu Urban Area, a metropolis of towns which spreads from Nasarawa state into parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The couples all received their sacrament of matrimony from Mathew Ishaya Audu, a visiting reverend and Catholic Bishop from the Lafia Diocese.
A statement released the church’s PRO, Ewache John Ajefu, confirms the uniqueness of the event and its place in the good history of St. Sylvester Catholic Church.
The parish priest of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Rev’d Lawrence Soja Anyembugu, asks all the couples to use the love of Christ as an example in their relationship with one another, so as to have a sustainable marriage life. He also adds that marriage without love is meaningless.
Just last month, October 2016, 25 couples were also joint in a mass wedding in Kwara state.
