50 Cent‘s TV brainchild Power has not only salvaged its Season 5 production run, but it also has been renewed for a 6th one too, details of which have been supplied by the rapper himself via Instagram this morning. He took to social media bright and early to share his renewed excitement and to wish everyone a “Good Morning.”
Power‘s demise was widely reported in January. TV provider Optimum was looking to cut costs starting with subsidiary network Starz and its scheduled lineup. But petitioning and public outrage put a stop to the canning in all likelihood. Had they not reached agreement, Power would have had to find a new home, for fear of squandering their production run for Season 5.
Season 6 will take off with 50 Cent handling the debut episode’s directorial duties. While that’s far ahead the future, we now have a premiere date for season 5 on July the 1st of this year. If we’ve learned anything from this debacle, it’s to take things one step at a time. We’ll hedge our bets on Season 6 when the time comes.
The news is being reported under the presumption of a handshake agreement. 50 Cent continues to defy his critics, finding new creative outlets and means to make money. Keep it locked for an official announcement from all parties.
