Cristiano Ronaldo Closing In On Juventus Switch

The Mirror suggest that Juve are more and more confident of pulling off a huge deal having offered a four-year £26.5million-per-year contract to the Portuguese star.

That represents a sizeable increase on the current £18.5m package paid to him by Real Madrid, with the 33-year-old having reportedly told the La Liga club that he wants to be paid closer to the wages of Lionel Messi and Neymar.

But while Ronaldo could be open to such a lucrative move, Juve must first tempt Real Madrid into agreeing a deal.

The Mirror suggest that while Ronaldo has a €1billion (£883.5m) release clause in his Bernabeu contract, Juve think they can settle upon a deal worth just €100m (£88m).

That’s with Ronaldo reaching the twilight of his career – although not reflected by his numbers – and having had to adapt his game significantly in recent years, though maintaining his stunning goalscoring feats.

The report adds that it is almost certain Ronaldo will play for the Serie A giants next term with it thought the player, despite his World Cup commitments with Portugal that only ended last Saturday, has agreed personal terms.

Juve are cautious that Ronaldo’s agent could look to drum up interest from the forward’s former club Manchester United as well as Paris Saint-Germain as the only two clubs capable of producing a package to sign the star.

It is not yet certain that Ronaldo will leave Real Madrid having come close to exits previously over his contract demands before penning new deals.

But it does appear that Ronaldo is more likely to leave than ever, having strongly hinted at a desire to move on after the Champions League final back in May.

Real overcame Liverpool in Kiev with Ronaldo suggesting that he would update fans on his future in the following days after calling it “very nice” to have played for Los Blancos.

Ronaldo has been at Real Madrid since the summer of 2009, scoring an incredible 450 goals in 438 appearances in all competitions since then and winning 15 trophies.
