There’s a little confusion on Nigeria’s blogosphere right now over the honorary doctorate degree in business management and corporate governance conferred on Five Star Music boss Emeka Okonkwo, long famous by the moniker E-Money.
E-Money had actually stated that he was conferred an honorary doctorate degree in business management and corporate governance by the “European-American University at an event that held inside the University of Lagos.”
Simple enough to understand, but blogs out there are claiming E-money said he was conferred an honorary doctorate degree by the University of Lagos. This misleading information has since made the University of Lagos to issue a statement listing those actually awarded honorary doctorates.
In the released statement no reference was actually made to E-Money.
By the way, the European-American University is actually not on European or American soil. The only link it has to both is in the university’s adopted name. It ends there.
The European-American University is located in Bunyoro-Kitara, Uganda, East Africa. It was incorporated 6 February 2012 by a “Royal Charter of Incorporation issued by H.M. the Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara,” the university states on its website.
Below is the statement released by the University of Lagos. Go through it and drop your thoughts in the comment section.
