Ballon D’Or Organizers Set To Create Goalkeepers Award

The Ballon d’Or organizers are set to create a separate award for the goalkeepers who stand out during the season.

The France Football, the magazine behind the award, has announced the launch of the award, it is called the Yachine Trophy, named after the legendary goalkeeper Lev Yashin who played for the Soviet Union.from 1954 to 1967, is the only goalkeeper to have won the Ballon d’Or award, in 1963.

“For the first time in history, we will reward the best goalkeeper of the season with our brand new trophy, the Yachine Trophy,” The prize will be given out on December 2, along with the rest of the Ballon d’Or awards.France Football said the list of 10 nominees for the goalkeeper award would be unveiled on Oct. 21.
