ASABA —THE Police in Delta State have arrested five suspected kidnappers, including a self-acclaimed prophetess, Deborah, who reportedly threatened to kidnap the daughter of one Mrs. Caroline Nnakwe if N1.5 million ransom was not paid.

Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Charles Muka, in a statement, yesterday, said the alleged prophetess and owner of the GSM line used to threaten Mrs. Nnakwe were arrested by detectives, who commenced action as soon as a report was made on May 22.

DSP Muka said the other three suspected kidnappers were nabbed in Asaba, on May 27, when the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad, SAKS, swooped on them along West End by Zenith Bank, Asaba, as they were trying to steal a car parked on the premises of the bank.

His words: “Following a petition to the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, dated 22/5/2014, by one Mrs. Caroline Nnakwe, ‘f’, that some persons were threatening to kidnap one of her daughters if she fails to pay N1.5 million.

“Detectives commenced immediate investigation and through modern scientific policing, one Mrs. Deborah, ‘f’, a self-acclaimed prophetess and Mrs. Nkem Onyia, ‘f’, the owner of the GSM line used were arrested. Meanwhile, investigation is in progress.”

On the three suspected kidnappers, he said: “The Police attached to Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad (SAKS) received information that four suspected kidnappers, operating with a Toyota Camry with number plate, RSH173HY, attempted to kidnap one Idah Moses, ‘m’, along Nnebisi Road, West End, Asaba.

“Based on the information, detectives went diligently in search of the said Toyota Camry. On 27/5/2014 at 1310hrs, the said Toyota Camry was sighted along West End by Zenith Bank, Asaba while the occupants were trying to steal a car parked within the bank’s premises.

“Consequently, the detectives swooped on them and arrested one Frank of Ibusa, Moses of Kwale and Lucky of Obiaruku.
