Fraud: Immigration Officer Jailed Over Job Scam

Mohammed Liman,an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Niger state command, has been remanded in prison till June 12, 2014 for allegedly duping unsuspected applicants the sum of N1, 175m with the promise of offering them non existing jobs.

The immigration officer,according to newsmen was arrested on the May 23, 2014, following direct complaint by the victims of the recruitment scam to a Minna Chief Magistrates’ Court.

It was gathered that Liman had collected sums ranging from N70, 000 to N120, 000 from each of the 13 victims who fell for his scam to offer them a Job into the Immigration service .

After his arrest Liman was said to have confessed to the police that he started the scam since 2012 and that he used the money realised from duping unsuspecting unemployed youths to build a house in Minna.
