Popular singer, Sunny Nneji, has hinted that he might switch to gospel music once he has an inspiration for such songs. He told Saturday Beats that the songs he sings are based on the inspirations he gets and if he gets any that tilts towards gospel songs, he would.

He said, “If it is something that sells, who knows. As a human being, you have a free mind to think about a lot of things but you act based on inspiration. If later in life I am inspired to sing gospel songs, I will. The best music people make are those that come out of inspiration. I am not a pastor but I am a very spiritual person. I believe in God, I recognise who He is in my life and I don’t joke with Him. That is why some people think I am a pastor.”

Earlier in the week, there were speculations that the singer and Tuface had been inducted as executive members of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria. When asked about the development, the singer declined to comment but gave an insight why the association is not as vibrant as it used to be.

“It is true that PMAN is not as vibrant as it used to be. It used to be very strong but over the years, it has been saddled with a lot of court cases. We have been fighting, backstabbing and destroying ourselves and it has affected our union. Before, the association was one that you had to reckon with but it is not so anymore. We are hoping that every aggrieved party would put the past behind them as it is the reason our industry is the way it is.

“We are supposed to be better off if we had a strong union but such is not the case. We are supposed to sit down as brothers and solve our problems because court cases can never solve matters that concern families. A family feud must be settled by the family. We are hoping that we would sit down and solve the problem,” Nneji said.
