Three undergraduates and a Youth Corps member have been selected to tour some cities on the 2015 Star Music Trek alongside artistes such as Davido, 2Face, Yemi Alade and Wizkid.
Halimat Abubakar, Jimi Falusi, Pamela Bello and Opeyemi Kareem were the lucky four who were chosen to join the Trek after sharing their superstar stories online using the hashtag #MySuperStarStory.
The lucky quartet were revealed at the Star Music Trek Artiste Sign On Party on Friday April 24 at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event, which featured performances from Lil Kesh, Skales and Oritsefemi had in attendance personalities such as Yaw, Naeto C, Yung L, Endia, Black Magic, Faze and Mr. Raw.
Halimat Abubakar who studies English at UNILORIN aspires to own a big make up accessories studio one day. She revealed that she overcame opposition from her dad and discouragement from friends to attend makeup school and eventually become a makeup artist. Jimi Falusi who studies Engineering at Covenant University overcame losing both of his parents to remain focused and in school. Pamela Bello, a serving youth corps member who loves to rap and dreams of becoming a rapper revealed that she has suffered a number of discouragements and rejections, but she still holds on to her dream of becoming a rapper. Completing the quartet is Opeyemi Kareem, a Computer Science student at the Yaba College of Technology who revealed that he took his dad’s advice to remain in school despite having discovered blogging and a love of computers.
The four invitees will now have the opportunity to tour across selected cities with the artistes unveiled at the Artiste Sign On Party including MI, Seyi Shay, Timaya, Wande Coal, Burna Boy, Naeto C, Mr Raw, Oritsefemi, Faze, Runtown, Cynthia Morgan, Banky W, Sean Tizzle, Pasuma, Sound Sultan and Black Magic. As part of activities on the Trek, they will get to meet the artistes backstage and spend time with them.
