Skales has released his first album titled ‘Man Of The Year’ under his new record label, Baseline Records which has a total number of 22 tracks and featured notable entertainers.
But the artiste did not feature any of his one-time record label mates, especially Wizkid and former boss, Banky W on the new album though certain quarters have said Skales did try to feature them on the album.
According to Punch, Skales tried to contact Banky W to record on a song that was sent to him (Banky W) which the music boss never did till the album was concluded and released.
His management team said that there was serious difficulty in the decision on which song was best on the album.
They said, “He had over hundred songs and it was quite difficult for his management to pick which should go in his album.”
However, a source close to the artiste revealed that his former label mates were reluctant to feature on the album, “There are 22 tracks on the album. Skales really wanted Banky W to be on the album but I don’t think Banky W recorded his part of the song to feature in the album. Skales sent Banky W the song he wanted him to feature in but there was no response from Banky W’s camp till date.
“As for Wizkid, not being on the album was the genesis of the fight they had on twitter. It was learnt that Skales became frustrated and snapped when Wizkid kept postponing recording his part of the song. To be honest, the two are acting as if they do not have time for Skales but they have forgotten the story of the stone that was rejected and later became the cornerstone.”
The source also mentioned that without the former colleagues, Skales has released hit songs with other big weights in the industry.
“Without them on his album, there are still a lot of hit songs on it. He featured some of Africa’s best on the album and I am sure it would be a success,” the source was quote to have said.
