The Federal Government has suspended the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr David Parradang, effective Friday, 21st August 2015.
This was contained in a statement from the Ministry of Interior, signed by the Ministry’s Director of Press, Mr Yusuf Isiaka, on behalf of the Permanent Secretary.
Although the statement did not state the reasons for his suspension, but The Nation reports that it was because he allegedly recruited 1,000 immigration officers in violation of due process.
Mr Martin Abeshi, a Deputy Comptroller General has been asked to take over the affairs of the office.
Parradang was appointed the Comptroller General of Immigration in June 2013 for a four year tenure. His tenure will be remembered for the infamous immigration recruitment in 2014, which led to the death of at least 15 applicants across Nigeria.
