Nigeria got its first medal at the ongoing Rio Olympics, after the U-23 football team defeated its Honduras counterparts 3-2 to win the bronze medal.
Captain Mikel Obi’s sterling performance secured the victory for the Dream Team.
Sadiq Umar scored the first goal for Nigeria from a Mikel pass in the 34th minute before Umar Aminu doubled the lead in the 49th minute with a rebound, after Mikel Obi was denied a goal from his 20 yard effort.
In the 56th minute, a pass from Mikel Obi saw Sadiq Umar get his second goal after he neatly tucked the ball into the net.
Honduras later scored in the 71st and 86th minutes, both from an header.
