The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has won the Edo State governorship election.
With election results in Ovia South West still being expected, Mr. Obaseki has swept the votes in 12 local government areas whilst his closest challenger, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, was the favourite candidate in five other LGAs.
The APC candidate scored 306,663 votes in the 12 LGAs while Ize-Iyamu garnered 244,363 in five LGAs to place second.
Without prejudice to the remaining local government result, Mr. Obaseki has fulfilled the constitutional requirements by winning the majority of valid votes cast in at least two-thirds of Edo State.
