Former Liverpool and Blackburn Rovers defender, Stephen Warnock, has said that Arsenal defender, David Luiz, deserved his red card against Wolves in the Premier League on Tuesday night at the Molineux Stadium.
Luiz clipped Willian Jose and was then given his marching orders by referee Craig Pawson late in the first half, with Ruben Neves then converting the penalty from the spot as Wolves defeated Arsenal 2-1.
Warnock, a BBC Sport pundit, commentating for Football Focus, expressed a belief that the decision by Pawson to dismiss the former Chelsea and PSG centre-back was the right one.
“It’s a clear penalty, David Luiz just gets the wrong side of Willian Jose, clips his heels. It’s a red card,” Warnock said.
Warnock then hailed Neves for his penalty, adding: “The coolest man in the stadium is Ruben Neves. A great penalty.
“Leno is dancing around on the line, but he doesn’t bother Neves, picks his spot, puts it into the far corner.
“Wolves get themselves level, and they don’t deserve it.”
Arsenal’s next game is against Aston Villa on Saturday at Villa Park.
