Adebayo Akinfenwa was the star of AFC Wimbledon when they romped to a 2-0 win over Newport County in a league two fixture.
The big Nigerian commonly referred to as the ‘Beast’ was in his best element as he led Wimbledon’s charge against the side that lost manager Justin Edinburgh’s to League One side Gillingham earlier on Saturday.
Akinfenwa had a chance to score when in the first half but sent his header wide on 11 minutes and again missed a golden a golden chance to put his side ahead when his poorly taken penalty was saved.
As the visitor began to feel lucky and that the 55 minutes sending off of Kevin Feely won’t be an issue, Akinfenwa struck with a powerful header and later added a second to hand Newport their fourth consecutive defeat.
