Berahino Backs Ideye To Start Scoring.
Saido Berahino insists that it is only a matter of time before West Brom’s record signing Brown Ideye becomes a regular Barclays Premier League goal-scorer.
The duo spearheaded Albion’s attack for 73 minutes in the 1-0 win over Hull City, before the Nigerian international was replaced by Victor Anichebe.
The 26-year-old came close to opening the scoring in the first-half against The Tigers, but his shot from just inside the penalty area rolled wide of Allan McGregor’s far post.
And Berahino, whose exquisite pass presented Ideye with the opportunity, told the club’s official website that he was surprised to see his strike partner miss the target.
“I was really surprised that he missed that chance on Saturday because he puts those types of opportunities away in training,” said Albion’s top scorer.
“I feel for him because he has found it hard, but you can’t knock his effort and his drive to do well for the team.
“He hasn’t scored as many as he would have liked this season but he has to keep going.
“He is a strong character and I am sure that he will start scoring soon.”
Berahino bagged the only goal of the game in Saturday’s narrow win against Hull– his sixth in three games since the turn of year.
