Today (March 17), Rick Ross‘ ninth studio album Rather You Than Me is out for everybody to hear. It includes a song called “Rivals Become Idols” that finds Rozay going directly at Birdman, dissing him about not doing right by Lil Wayne, screwing over producers like Mannie Fresh and Scott Storch, and never visiting B.G. in prison.
Billboard was able to get a reaction from Baby on Ross’ latest shots. He didn’t directly diss Ross back but denounced the allegations: “I don’t get caught up in hoe sh-t, man. I just keep doing what I’m doing and keep pushing,” Birdman told Billboard. “I don’t get caught up in that, I don’t play like that. I’m a man and I stand my ground and I do my thing. Numbers don’t lie, and that’s all I give a f–k about: numbers, and puttin’ them up.”
There isn’t much to grab onto in that statement; it reads like a hood PR statement. Ross has already gotten a positive response to the diss from Lil Wayne, who’s at the center of the beef. Birdman and his signee Lil Wayne are currently embroiled in a lawsuit over the unreleased Tha Carter V album, which Birdman maintains will come out in 2017.
