Chelsea have confirmed that Guus Hiddink will take over as manager until the end of this season, Naijaloaded understands
The London club sacked Jose Mourinho after a poor start to the season that has seen the reigning Champions dragged to an unprecedented relegation battle.
Guus Hiddink will not take charge of the game at home to Sunderland on Saturday, but will be at the stands in Stamford Bridge watching with owner Roman Abramovich.
The Dutchman was delighted with the appointment. He said:
‘I am excited to return to Stamford Bridge.
“Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world but is not where it should be at the moment. However, I am sure we can all turn this season around.
“I am looking forward to working with the players and staff at this great club and especially renewing my wonderful relationship with the Chelsea fans.”
Chelsea also confirmed via a statement:
“Mr Abramovich and the board believe that Guus has what it takes to get the best out of our talented squad.”
Guus Huddink won the FA CUP for the Blues when he took temporary charge after Luis Felipe Scolari was sacked in 2009.
