Looking at his past, Burna Boy is normally in the news for two reasons; either his music or trouble. Once again he made headlines this week but for the latter. It was reported that the singer through one of his managers contracted the help of some young men to assault fellow singer, Mr. 2kay.

Already the culprits are cooling off at the police station but the whereabouts of the accused, Burna Boy, seems to be unknown. Even though the police have declared him wanted, the singer has still not honored the invitation of the Nigerian Police.

In a chat with a source in the singer’s camp, Saturday Beats learnt the singer is in Nigeria but is preoccupied in the studio.

The source said, “Burna Boy is neither on the run nor avoiding the police;  he is not guilty. I cannot tell you his exact whereabouts but he is in the country recording. Also, you should know that as the festive season approaches, demand for his services would be on the increase, so he is preparing for appearances as well. Initially, when he was invited, he could not go to the station because of his engagements, so his father went to the police station in his stead. But now that the police have insisted that they want to see him personally, he would surely honour their invitation. He is not guilty of the charges levelled against him.”

Earlier in the week, a press statement made available by the singer’s camp, Buki Hq, stressed that the singer was innocent of the assault and robbery charge.

The statement read, “The management of Burna Boy (Spaceship Entertainment) hereby makes an official statement regarding the news that Burna Boy has been declared wanted by the police. We use this medium to categorically state that Burna Boy is not in any way involved in the robbery and beating up of Grafton Records artiste, Mr. 2Kay on October 22, 2017.

“The first and only invitation Burna Boy has ever received from the police was issued yesterday, November 20, 2017. This invitation was honoured yesterday, November 20, 2017 and it has been made clear that he is happy to cooperate with the police as best as he can. It is pertinent to note that he was served an arrest warrant. We are confident that the Nigerian police will deal with this fairly and professionally.”
