Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose has reduced the number of ministries in the state from 36 to 26.
The Governor made the announcement during the swearing in of a new head of service, four permanent secretaries and one special adviser.
He said the reduction is to save the dwindling funds in the state due to low oil prices.
He said, “There were 36 ministries in Ekiti when I came in but I have to reduce them to 26 because of finance.
“The recent fall in oil price is worrisome and indicates that tough days are ahead. Our source of revenue is nose diving and this calls for careful measures.”
He said the appointments is his way of rewarding loyalty.
“We will continue to show commitment. The hallmark of my administration is to reward loyalty. Famosaya became my permanent secretary many years ago. He has served very well, why should he be my personal special adviser? It is because he has so much to offer this state, he has been loyal.”
Mr Gbenga Faseluka was sworn in as the new Head of Service, the permanent secretaries are Mr Ademiloye Ojo Fasikun, Mr Lawrence Babatope Ojo, Ayodeji Ajiboye and Mrs Olabisi Akindele while the former HOS, Mr Bunmi Famosaya, was sworn-in as Special Adviser.
Fayose said he appointed a woman as permanent secretary for gender balance and local government representation.
He also warned that his government would not allow any external force to destabilize the state.
