Chelsea’s quest for the EPL title this term have been further boosted with their 1-2 away victory over Aston Villa while second placed Manchester City could only force a 1-1 draw against visiting Hull City.
Branislav Ivanovic’s memorable strike was all that was needed to give Chelsea a slender 2-1 win over Villa after the hosts had cancelled out the early goal registered by Edin Hazard in the eight minute.
Mourinho did give some playing time to Nigeria’s John Obi Mikel as well as new by Juan Cuadrado who got a chance for a winning start with the Blues.
Manchester City Vs Hull
At the Etihad there was disappointment for Manchester City who had to come from behind to force a 1-1 with struggling Hull City.
It was James Milner’s last-gasp equaliser that earned City a share of the spoils but there title ambition is fading out the more as they now trail Chelsea with six points. The Blues have 56 points from 24 games while City have 49 from the same number of games.
Leicester Vs Crystal Palace.
Though the expected debuts for the duo of Shola Ameobi and Keshi Anderson were delayed, Coach Alan Pardew will be proud of those he kept faith with as Joe Ledley’s second-half goal gave the Eagles a slender 1-0 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
The result takes Palace to 13thspot to further ease their relegation worries.
