Former Super Eagles defender, Uche Okechukwu, who was a member of the all-conquering Super Eagles squad to the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia, before shaking the world by reaching the Second Round of the Fifa World Cup USA ‘94, is now a professional hunter.
Twitter user @Imamdimam who shared a tweet about Uche Okechukwu who had 50 caps for Nigeria before retiring, thanked Enyinnaya Apollos for rediscovering him. He tweeted;
I’ve always wondered where ex Super Eagles dependable defender, Uche Okechukwu, has been. The gentle giant is in Abia State. He said he’s a professional hunter now. Thanks Enyinnaya Apollos for rediscovering him. What a player he was!
Uche Okechukwu was honoured as the foreign player, who played in Turkey for the longest period of time (13 years. He even went on to obtain Turkish citizenship under the name Deniz Uygar.
Recall that Former Super Eagles midfielder, Wilson Oruma who has been battling emotional disorder after being defrauded N2 billion by fake oil businessmen, was offered a job as an assistant coach in one of the national teams.
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Melvin Amaju Pinnick disclosed this in an interview with newsmen.
“His story is a pathetic one and we cannot allow him to die. I am rendering this help to him from one Warri man to another. We are Warri Ambassadors.
‘’All we need to do is to show him love. I ate with him. He’s stable. The NFF will include him to play a role in our award ceremony coming up soon.
“Thereafter, we’ll include him in the U-20 national team. Come June, we’ll also include him in the contingent to Russia to cheer the Super Eagles.
“I’m still talking with some of the clubs he played for to allow him come and do a coaching course with them,’’ Pinnick said.
