Gambia Executes Dog That Killed Son Of Adama Barrow

According to new reports sifting out from the country, the rabid dog that killed Habibou, the son of Gambian President, Adama Barrow has been executed.

The young boy had reportedly been overpowered and mauled  by the stray dog and had sustained serious  head injuries as a result.

All this happened just days before his father’s inauguration while he was in Senegal where he was been protected by security operatives because of the tension in the country at the time.

The deceased was living at his aunt’s house in a coastal resort near Banjul, when he dog, which had not bitten anyone before attack him. He died after being rushed to the hospital.

“We concluded that it was not wise to allow this dog to continue roaming the streets. We carried out some test and realised that the dog is not infected with rabies,” an official of the country’s agriculture ministry said.

Barrow missed his son’s funeral as he was he was still in Senegal for his safety following Yahya Jammeh‘s refusal to handover power.

Jammeh finally handed over power and is currently in exile in Equitorial Guinea.

Barrow returned to The Gambia last week to a jubilant welcome marking the beginning of the West African nation’s first democratic transfer of power.
