An injured armed robber is currently one of the most wanted men in Ghana after his daring escape from a heavily guarded hospital in Sunyani, Ghana. 21-year old suspected armed robber, Kwaku Yeboah, who was under a 24-hour guard at the Sunyani Regional Hospital managed to outwit a security guard and escape.
Yeboah was arrested for robbing a trader, Madam Kate Sam Wilson at gunpoint at Ohene Djan, a suburb of Abesim, near Sunyani on May 2, 2016. Yeboah and his accomplice who is currently at large,came to the lady’s shop with a motorcycle.
They parked the bike a few meters away from the lady’s shop, before attacking and taking her handbag containing GH2,500 and other items at about 7.30pm that day.
Luck ran out on Yeboah when an 18-year old boy who witnessed the robbery laid ambush near the motorbike and attacked Yeboah with a big stone.
Yeboah, who was riding the motorbike and wielding a gun, fell off the bike. Yeboah’s accomplice immediately took to his heels while Yeboah started struggling with the boy. A mob quickly gathered and Yeboah would have been lynched if not for the police’s timely intervention.
The criminal was rushed to Sunyani Regional Hospital because of the severity of the injuries he sustained as a result of the assault and was placed under a 24-hour guard.His jaw was broken.
He escaped on Thursday by tricking the police constable guarding his hospital room. The victim, Kate Wilson, on learning of yeboah’s escape, expressed fear and serious concern over her life and business.
The Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command has given the police constable that guarded Yeboah a 10 day ultimatum to find him or face the full wrath of the rules and regulations of the Ghana police service.
