If there’s any track worthy to be awarded the best in Hip hop of 2019 it would be J.Cole’s Middle Child. It’s not even an opinion that Cole dropped the most loved song looking into how it has been performing in the digital market and on charts.

Earlier this month the single was dubbed the most consumed song of 2019 by far. Released on the 23rd of January it debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 generating 142,000 sales and 312,151,000 streams, which combined equal 2,310,000 equivalent sales. On April 12 Middle Child was certified 2x platinum by the RIAA.

Now it has been announced that Middle is 3x Platinum.

The inspiration of the name for “Middle Child” came from Cole’s perspective of the hip-hop industry today and how he feels he fits in. He feels that his position of working with the older and younger generation in the industry have put him in a unique position. “I’m stuck between two generations, I’m little bro and big bro all at once.”

Cole has made his goal to take young rappers under his wing and try to teach them about how the industry works and the impact of their actions. In his last album “KOD” on the song “1985,” he directed his wisdom onto rapper Lil Pump by saying, “Come here lil’ man, let me talk with ya/see if I can paint for you the large picture/congrats ‘cause you made it out your mama’s house/I hope you make enough to buy your mom a house.” He is trying to both relate to the artist and leave a positive influence on the younger generation.
