While a section of Nigerians continues to bicker over the outcome of last weekend’s presidential election, Presidential Goodluck Jonathan, Friday hosted the president-elect, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The unannounced meeting was held behind closed doors.
Although Jonathan had called Buhari to congratulate him on his election victory when it became clear that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had won, yesterday’s meeting would be the first time both men were seeing each other physically after the election.
Jonathan also attended a Good Friday service at the Aso Villa Chapel, Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday, where he promised to speak on the just concluded election at the right time.
When asked by State House correspondents for his thoughts on the aftermath of last week’s elections and the mood in the country, Jonathan said: “Don’t worry, I will talk to you at the appropriate time.”
