A 38-year-old driver, Williams Olowolabi, who kidnapped his employer’s younger brother has been arrested.
The suspect kidnapped his brother because he was denied N100,000 loan to fund his father-in-law’s burial
Owolabi paraded by the Lagos State commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi on Tuesday confessed that he kidnapped his boss’s brother after he refused to give him a loan of N100,000.
“It started last month when I and my wife were levied N180, 000 which I did not have.
“I told my boss that I needed a loan of N100, 000 for a burial but he said there was no money. I discussed with a friend of mine, Akin Adedamola, and he told me that we can kidnap my boss’ brother and get more than enough for the burial.
“But three of the suspects were paraded contrary to Edgal’s statement that the police arrested four”, he said.
Olowolabi, however, accused the police of freeing Akin on Monday, despite being the mastermind of the kidnap.
“When we were arrested and taken to SARS, we gave our statements but the police released Akin. He is not in detention with us”, he added.
Olowolabi alongside his accomplices Segun Teluwo, 30, Ayo Akinola 22, and Akintunde Adedamola were paraded on Tuesday by acting Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal for allegedly kidnapping Hillary Chukwudumebi and his girlfriend, Rebecca Omokaro.
The suspects allegedly committed the offence last Saturday at Oniru Estate in Victoria Island and were arrested at Agodo Alara-Ogijo in Ogun State.
