This was contained in a release issued by the Director, University Relations, Mr Abdulrazaq Sanni, immediately after the inauguration of the Compliance and Enforcement Committee on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.
The Vice-Chancellor stressed that it has become necessary to ban the use of vehicles by students on the campus to safeguard the lives of students and staff from students who drive recklessly.
“This has become necessary since the Management observed that our roads have become a racecourse where students drive at nerve breaking speed, thus constituting nuisance on our campus.”
The University helmsman further noted that Management has resolved to institute sanity and orderliness within the university community and, most especially, save the lives of students from recurring ghastly motor accidents and discourage the use of vehicles as a tool of oppression among students.
Therefore, students are advised to ensure strict compliance, as no vehicle would be allowed into the university premises under any guise, as sanctions would be meted on any student that flouts the rule.
According to the statement, the ban would take effect from February 14, 2022.
