It is great news for Nigeria as Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria who is currently on loan to Sky Bet Championship club Reading has committed his future to the country.

Complete Sports are reporting that the 22-year-old who was part of the England U-20 side that won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2017 will now represent Nigeria at the senior national team.

Ejaria who was born in London to Nigerian parents failed to make the Golden Eaglets squad that won the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

“Ovie Ejaria has committed to Nigeria, a Super Eagles team source tells me.

“Paperwork is already with FIFA, and Nigerian passport needs to be renewed.

All but settled for the Liverpool man who is on loan at Reading,” former Super Eagles midfielder and ESPN journalist, Colin Udoh on Wednesday.

He has scored three goals and provided four assists in 35 appearances for Reading this season.

Late in 2019, Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr denied giving preference pass on Reading FC player Ovie Ejaria over Queens Park Rangers star Ebere Eze.

The German tactician was reacting to some reports linking him with a statement where he was alleged to have said he preferred Ejaria in his team to the QPR star.

In a statement on Wednesday, December 10, Rohr described the purported online report as ‘totally false and very disrespectful’ while maintaining that he harbours respect for both players.

Rohr also denied telling the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to hand Ejaria invite ahead of Super Eagles’ next match.
