Manchester City are lining up a massive £50m for Everton’s midfielder Ross Barkley as the club sees him as a long time replacement for Ivory Coast International Yaya Toure, according to the Manchester Evening News.
City manager Manuel Pellegrini is a huge admirer of the 21-year-old and has encouraged the club’s hierarchy to put in the bid for the youngster which will make him the highest paid British player in history.
Barkley had a breakthrough year for Everton last season under manager Roberto Martinez and later made the England squad for the 2014.
The report also states that the Etihad side has their eyes on Southampton’s Jay Rodgriguez as an option incase Everton blocks the move to sign Barkley.
