Manchester United defender Rafael has been ruled out of action until the end of the season.
The right-back suffered a broken rib during the first half of under-21’s 1-1 draw at Leicester City on Monday night.
Manager Louis van Gaal confirmed to MUTV that the Brazilian “shall not play any more this season for Manchester United,” adding “It’s very unfortunate.”
Rafael last featured for the Red Devils’ first-team as a substitute in the victory over Tottenham Hotspur last month.
Meanwhile, United fans could expect to see Dutch midfielder Daley Blind back in action on Sunday at Everton, according to the 63-year-old. Blind missed the 1-0 defeat at Chelsea after complaining of stomach burg.
The trio of Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Michael Carrick remain sidelined, while Jonny Evans, who have completed his six-game back is available for selection.
