Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini says that his successor at Manchester City, Manuel Pellegrini, should be doing better at the club.
The Chilean replaced the Italian at Etihad Stadium in 2013, despite Mancini winning the Premier League the previous season. Aspell at Galatasaray in Turkey followed, before he made his return to San Siro to take charge of the Nerazzurri for a second time.
While Mancini is now trying to replicate the success of his first spell in charge of Inter,he also thinks his old team should be challenging for the Premier League title, instead of trailing league leaders Chelsea by six points.
“I think Pellegrini was really lucky because he got this team that is a strong team and he has a chance to put in more good players,” he told CNN.
“I think City can win a title every year and have a chance – it should and must try to win a title every year. It’s my opinion that City is the best team in the Premier League. It’s in second and six points behind Chelsea but I think it’s the best team.”
Mancini’s current side are a disappointing seventh in Serie A. Although they have been improving since he took charge, he is also proud of how his old team is faring with the squad that he helped to build.”I had a fantastic time in England,” he added.
“We won the Premier League after many years. I have all City’s supporters in my heart and all those moments in my head because it is impossible to forget this.
“Maybe I miss the Premier League because I worked there for three-and-a-halfyears. I built the team that is now in second position. I think they play with the same players and I am very proud of this.
“In the Premier League anything can happen right up to the last game, in the last minute. I think they should think that they have a chance to win the title.”
