The Central Bank of Nigeria on Sunday said the commemorative N100 note would go into circulation on Friday, NAN reports.

President Goodluck Jonathan had recently unveiled the N100 note in commemoration of Nigeria’s 100 years. It was in remembrance of the amalgamation of the northern and southern protectorates in 1914.

“The commemorative N100 banknote unveiled recently by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is to be officially issued into circulation by the Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, on Friday, December 19, 2014,” the CBN said in a statement issued on Sunday.

The ceremony, billed for the Abuja branch of the CBN, will be immediately followed by a simultaneous issuance of the currency across the branches of the central bank, according to the statement.
