Nicki Minaj has cancelled her scheduled performance at the Jeddah World Fest in Saudi Arabia to show support for women’s rights, and that of the LGBTQ community.
According to CNN, the rapper who was supposed to headline this concert made this known in a statement she released.
She stated that even though she would love to entertain her Saudi fans, she believes it would disrupt her stance on women’s rights, the LGBTQ community and freedom of speech.

The statement reads: “After careful reflection I have decided to no longer move forward with my scheduled concert at Jeddah World Fest.
“While I want nothing more than to bring my show to fans in Saudi Arabia, after better educating myself on the issues, I believe it is important for me to make clear my support for the rights of women, the LGBTQ community and freedom of expression.”
It is no surprise that the ‘Megatron’ crooner took this decision as the Human Rights Foundation (HRF) had pleaded with her last week to not uphold the invite.
Saudi Arabia till this day still has conservative laws. It is considered to have one of the worst LGBT rights records in the world.
The Kingdom punishes homosexuality and even cross-dressing by fining, whipping, chemical castrations, imprisonment, beatings.
