The entire team of the Nigerian Entertainment Industry Lecture Series (NEILS) mourns the music diva and rare gem; Irikefe Momoh (nee Obareki), who breathed her last on Friday June 13th, 2014 after being in coma for weeks in an undisclosed American hospital. This sad event has indeed been very heartbreaking and devastating for the entire Nigerian entertainment community and Africa at large.

The Branama queen lived a short but very eventful life. She seized every opportunity life gave her and lived it to the fullest. She was a prolific song writer, a skilled dancer and passionate singer. At age 18, she became the choir director in her church where she did lead and backup vocals respectively. Kefee released a couple of albums with her first solo album being; Branama in 2003.

A graduate of Public Administration from the University of Benin, Kefee was the founder of Branama Afrique. She lives on in our memory.

It’s however instructive for us all to know that the life we live today is borrowed and that at the end of the day, we’ll all just be memories to be remembered and cherished by the people we met along life’s journey.

Let us therefore begin to take into cognizance the kind of memory we’ll love to leave behind when we are all gone. Will it be said that we lived a good life? This is indeed a food for thought.

Let us also endeavor to do our checkups and exercises regularly, eat healthily and resist taking our health for granted!

RIP KEFEE
