When one looks back at life and reminisce how just a moment became the ‘’game changer’’, he or she has no other choice than to be grateful. And for Chocolate city rapper, M.I, the journey to stardom started in 2008.

In a recent interview with Tv/On Air Personality; Toke Makinwa, M.I Abaga revealed that he was “a nobody” till he won his first headie in 2008.

When asked by Toke how winning so many headies has helped his career, he responded; “Wow! I’m the person that has the ‘help my career story’. In 2008, nobody knew who I was and I was nominated for a track called ‘Crowd Mentality’ and I won. It was the first award of the day and I can remember running down, grabbing the mic and screaming my head off. From that day I was M.I”.

He continued; “I remember doing interviews on the red carpet before the awards and nobody knew me but after the awards when I was handed my headie, so many people started interviewing me asking ‘How do you feel being a winner’. It was a game changing experience for me”.
