October 1st Declared As Public Holiday: 54th Independence Anniversary

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1st, 2014 as Public Holiday to mark the Nigeria’s 54th Independence Anniversary.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magaji A.G., in Abuja on Thursday.

The statement stated that the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, declared the holiday on behalf of the Federal Government.

The minister urged Nigerians to use the period to reflect on the giant strides made by President Goodluck Jonathan in the development and building of a formidable nation and wished all Nigerians a happy independence celebration.
