Olamide’s raving single “Science Student” has been slammed with a Not-To-Be-Broadcast (NTTB) warning by the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation.
As reported by Nigerian publication; Tribune, the NBC’s Head of Public Affairs Hajia Maimuna Jihada, revealed that the song was not out-rightly banned but prohibited from being played on local stations for public consumption.
“NBC does not ban music. Our mandate is on what goes on Radio and TV. Olamide’s Science Student has been declared ‘Unfit for broadcast’”, She revealed.
She further disclosed that the the action of the NBC was triggered by the content of the song which is believed to promote illegal use of drug.
In contrast, Olamide had declared that the song is a campaign against intoxication and does not promote the idea of drug use;
“As you are all sharing, dancing, singing along to this relatable music of mine, I want you all to take some time to reflect on the subject, say no to drug abuse. Don’t abuse alcohol. stop mixing what you don’t know about. Live responsibly and drink responsibly.”, he stated last week.
Local music outlets are said to have been served a notice by the NBC to quit broadcasting the song.
