10 years after bursting onto the world stage, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa and MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) will again celebrate African music, creativity and achievement at the fifth MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) holding at Durban International Convention Centre (ICC), KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa on Saturday, 18 July 2015.
The announcement, which was made today simultaneously in South Africa and Nigeria had top celebrities in attendance and takes “evolution” as its theme this year. The awards will continue with its effort at recognizing and rewarding musicians and achievers who have made the most impact on African youth culture over the last 12 months.
The ceremony will celebrate African talent across 17 award categories and special categories for Best Lusophone and Best Francophone acts as well as Artist of the Decade, MAMA Leadership Award and Personality of the Year. The nominations for the awards will be revealed on 11 June 2015.
In addition to these, the awards will continue celebrating the pan-African scope of the MAMA and organize stunning surround events featuring MAMA nominees and superstar DJs to be held in Durban (27 June), Lagos (3 July) & Kenya (1 August).
