Bandits, numbering about 10, struck in Owo town in Ondo State on Thursday, robbing several banks and killing a bank manager.
Punch newspaper reports that the armed robbers killed the Manager of one of the raided banks in the town and a bank staff during the robbery operation.
it was learnt that the deceased, whose identities were yet to be ascertained, were shot by the robbers when they refused to cooperate with them.
Residents said the armed robbers, who came into the town through the Abuja-Owo road area at about 5pm, started shooting sporadically into the air until they got to the heart of the town, where they robbed three branches of new generation banks.
It was also learnt that some bystanders, who were caught in the attack, were either killed or seriously injured.
A resident, who would not want to be named, said the incident took place with policemen in sight, who could not challenge the robbers.
The hoodlums escaped with an undisclosed amount of money carted from the banks after two hours of operation.
