Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may land bespoke royal jobs in Africa after the birth of their first child.

The new hybrid role could see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex combine Commonwealth and charity work and promoting Britain, but take them out of the UK for at least two to three years.

It would allow Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, a break from divisions that have rocked the royals in recent months, it is claimed. A source told The Sunday Times: “Discussions are at an early stage, but the plan is to find a new way of using their soft power abilities, most likely in Africa.”

A decision on where royal “rock stars” Harry and Meghan would be based is not due until 2020, The Sunday Times reports. But the Duke of Sussex has strong links to Africa and spent his 2004 gap year in Lesostho, where he started a charity. Harry and Meghan are said to have fallen in love in Botswana, which the prince refers to as his ‘second home’.
