In Stamford Bridge, they refer to Diego Costa as the Governor but to neutrals he is a beast of a goalscorer which is not particularly a bad thing.
On Tuesday, during the second leg Capital One Cup semifinal game between Chelsea and Liverpool he stamped on the Reds duo of Emre Can and Martin Skrtel and was charge by the English FA for violent conduct which many are in support of but surprisingly Manchester legend Paul Scholes has come out in defense of the Brazilian born Spanish International.
“As for Diego Costa, I see it differently to the rest,” Scholes wrote in his London Evening Standard column.
“I thought his actions were at the lower end of the scale of dangerous and that he was under extreme provocation from Martin Skrtel, who has wound him up before this season.
“My view of it was that Costa gets kicked a lot and actually his patience is to be admired in many, if not all, situations.”
Costa may miss Chelsea’s clash against current league Champions Manchester City tomorrow if the FA goes ahead and ban him despite the player contesting the charge of violent conduct.
