PSG defender Thiago Silva has been ruled out of the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Barcelona on Tuesday.
The Brazilian centre-back had to leave the pitch with a thigh injury just 20 minutes into the first leg at Stade de France last Wednesday, which the Spanish side won 3-1 thanks to goals from Neymar and Luis Suarez.
“Having initially being named in the squad for the quarter-final against Barcelona, Brazilian defender Thiago Silva will not ultimately make the trip,” read a statement from the Ligue 1 club.
“The captain of Paris Saint-Germain will therefore remain at the Ooredoo training centre to work on his return to action.”
Although the reigning French champions will be without Silva, Thiago Motta and Serge Aurier, manager Laurent Blanc will once again be able to call on Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Italian midfielder Marco Verratti, who both return from suspension.
