Ex-President Jacob Zuma has been granted compassionate leave to attend brother’s funeral.

Zuma, who was arrested two weeks ago, is serving his 15-month sentence at the Estcourt Correctional Services Centre after being convicted by the Constitutional Court for defying its order for him to appear before the Zondo Commission investigating state capture and corruption.

Zuma’s younger brother, Michael, died last week following a long illness and will be buried in Nkandla on Thursday.

As a short-term, low risk classified inmate, Mr Zuma’s application for compassionate leave was processed and approved following the Correctional Services prescripts.
