Former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel has said he is not working as a “secret agent” of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and that he remains a strong member of the Labour Party (LP).

The former governor made the clarification on his status as a member of the state chapter of LP at the public meeting of the party held in the Yewa – Awori town of Ayetoro, in the Yewa North Local Government area of the state.

Governor-elect of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose had during a rally in Abeokuta on Thursday, said that the state chapter of LP under the leadership of Daniel will soon fuse into the PDP.

Speaking at the Aiyetoro meeting however, the former governor vowed not to return to his former party.

“Let me correct this insinuations and speculation that I am in PDP, no! I am not in PDP, I am a member of Labour Party, I am a member of yesterday’s Peoples Democratic Party, but now I am Labour Party and Labour Party is the way forward”, Daniel told the party supporters.

State Chairman of LP, Comrade Niyi Osoba said PDP’s hope that Daniel would return to their fold was a wishful thinking, stressing that such would not occur.
