Nigerians are now ranked 42nd in world football, according to the FIFA rankings released on Thursday.
The former African champions are however seventh on the continent, behind Algeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Tunisia, Cape Verde and Senegal.
Algeria are the highest-ranked African team in 21st place, while the Ivorians sit in 24th place.
Overall, Germany remain number one in the world, while Spain are back in the top 10.
The next world ranking will be published on July 2, 2015.
