Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry has announced his retirement from professional football after 3 decades.

The iconic former France striker, who recently left New York Red Bulls at the end of MLS 2014 Season, confirmed the retirement in a statement while also revealing he will be taking up a new position as a football pundit with Sky Sports.

‘I’ve been fortunate enough to have had an amazing playing career with many incredible memories and now I can’t wait for the next chapter to begin with Sky Sports.

‘I played for some of the best teams in football and now I’m joining what I think is the best team in television. I’m looking forward to joining the guys and helping to provide Sky Sports viewers with the best possible analysis. I can’t wait,’ Thierry said.

Thierry Henry started playing for the French national team in 1997, retiring in 2010 after scoring 51 goals in 123 appearances. On the club side, he began his professional senior career with Monaco in 1994 and played at clubs including Juventus, Arsenal and Barcelona. In 2010, he signed for New York Red Bulls and went on loan to Arsenal in 2012 before returning to New York Red Bulls later that same year.
