Van Persie Out For At Least Two Weeks

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed that Robin van Persie faces at least a fortnight on the treatment table with an ankle injury.

The Netherlands international suffered the injury during the Red Devils’ disappointing 2-1 defeat to Swansea last weekend.Van Persie left the Liberty Stadium on crutches, prompting suggestions that he could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

While Van Gaal has not confirmed the exact length of his compatriot’s absence, he did say it could take a “long time”.”He is injured. It is an ankle problem. I do not think it is very heavy, but ankle problems can take a long time it is not oneor two weeks,” the Dutchman said.

As a result, the striker will definitely miss the midweek trip to Newcastle.

United have received some welcome newson the injury front, however, with midfield anchor Michael Carrick back in training this week following a calf injury.

Young striker James Wilson is also back in contention after recovering from a hip injury.
