A 22 year old lady who works with Bird and Beer in 3 N Bar Within, Beverley HU17 8AP East Yorkshire in UK claims she got sacked for not wearing a bar to work.
Kate Hannah took to her facebook page to rant that she decided not to wear bra after an ‘inappropriate S3xual remark was made to her’
She wrote: So I’ve just got home after being sacked from my job, for refusing to wear a bra.
‘Yesterday an inappropriate S3xual remark was made to me, by my managers brother, and in the presence of her. I felt uncomfortable, objectified and shocked that this had happened.
‘Unfortunately she saw fit to deal with the situation by telling me that I’m not allowed into work in future unless I’m wearing a bra. This was said to me in front of three other staff members and customers. Leaving me feeling body shamed and completely shocked that the blame was being put onto me that I had been S3xually harassed at work. She called me stupid, silly and over the top when I told her I was upset.
I am absolutely disgusted, with the unprofessionalism, and blatant lack of respect for my right as a woman to wear whatever makes me personally comfortable.
Nobody should EVER feel the need to hide themselves in order to stay away from unwanted S3xual comments/behaviour.
Feel so Sad’.
This generated a lot of reactions on facebook with one commenter saying: “This is ridiculous. If you don’t want to wear a bra you should be able to. It’s not like she was wearing a see through top or a low cut top. If they cannot stop themselves from looking and judging. Then they are the problem. Not the woman wearing no bra. A man’s nippes showing through his shirt when he is cold is not S3xualised so why do it to a woman?”
